The Sozialpsychiatrische Dienst (SpD; Social Psychiatric Service) in Berlin provides free support to adults who are mentally ill, have addiction problems, a disability or are disoriented in old age and can no longer cope on their own. The support includes counselling, support in crises, visits at home and assistance in dealing with authorities and with social problems. The SpD also helps to find other suitable therapies or support services. Relatives, friends, neighbours and professionals can also contact the SpD.
